Geist Review - Nintendo Gamecube

Okay, without getting too verbose (this is supposed to be just the lowdown right?) let me tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a featurette on G4TV that showed what yours truly thought to be the last great FPS on Gamecube, "Geist". It was the sequel to the famous game, "Polter" (not really). I wanted to play it badly. Well not badly like I sucked at it but... you know. Anyhow, fast-forward to last week (or rewind?) when I put this mini-disc in my little blue wonder.
After 10 minutes of playing Geist I found myself humming a little tune, "too much, too little, too late...". Yep, this would have kicked ass on Dreamcast back in 2000! These long production schedules kill good game ideas. The lifecycle of a console nears and everyone scurrys to finish up a half-baked game (Pariah anyone?).
Good ideas in a lame story. Very dated gameplay. I hate the Gamecube controller for FPS, it feels wrong. Aiming is like having a PC mouse with accelleration set too high. You can't just aim at what you want. Not that it matters because the enemies are repetitive and predictable. I'm still going to finish this out... someday when I'm really bored. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
