Mad Catz - Bling Kit

More evidence that the success of the Nintendo Wii has greatly influenced the marketing direction of gaming companies. Just watch the marketing frenzy to appeal to the 'Casual Gamer" ensue. Mad Catz, maker of gaming peripherals (including that crappy green Dreamcast controller I bought with the sticky right trigger -grrrr) has come out with something aimed at 11 year old girls. I mean it doesn't say so on the box but just look! Who the hell else is going to ask their parents to buy this? I took a bullet for you guys and spend the couple of bucks to see what the hell was inside.
The box comes with a wide selection of... stickers. Jewel and tattoo stickers to destro- er, "enhance" your gaming peripherals. Why the hell are we worrying about the straps on a Wii-mote when this product suggests you'd be able to play with a bunch of crappy stickers sliding off in your sweaty hands? Thankfully, to avoid any possible confusion the box indicates that it is for use with PSP, DS (Lite only), Xbox, Xbox360, PS3, PS2, Wii and iPod. Whew, I almost put these on my power-glove by accident!

I really do live this stuff though. Shaq rules for making 'Bling' a household term. In 20 years we are going to look back and laugh at this like we do bell-bottoms now.
