Burnout Revenge - Demo Disc

I got a Burnout Revenge Demo Disc in the mail yesterday. I couldn't wait to pop it in my XBox and check out the next installment of this kick-ass franchise. The game looks better than ever! Beautiful! The single level on the demo was very detailed and provided multiple paths to complete. The sense of speed is great - a quality lacking in many driving games. The point system has been modified but still great fun. Watch for this one - if it's anything like this demo it will be great!

Xbox Reviews

Spent a lot of time recently playing through Resident Evil 4 again on the Game Cube so this past week I've got into a few titles on XBox. Even though it's approaching the end of it's life cycle, there are great titles still coming out by developers who have learned how to harness the power of Xbox.

Medal of Honor: European Assault
This is by far the best MOH on Xbox. It tries a few new things which is good - and bad at times. Still very addictive and fun. You can command members of your squad in certain missions. The levels are pretty interesting and the degree of difficulty is fitting.

There is a revive feature now where you can come back to life with half your life bar ... and end up exactly where you died... in the middle of a firefight... or meeting the butt of a rifle ...or giving a sniper extra practice. As you can see, this feature is hit and miss. I thought this was supposed to be realisitic? Another problem with the game is that when you eliminate an enemy they may drop much needed ammo or health packs. These disappear after 20 - 30 seconds. Since you spend much of your time peeking around corners and shooting combatants in the distance through your scope - this sucks. This sucks-ass!

Still a kick ass game overall. No online play? Wussupwitdat??? 7 out of 10 for me.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
You'll hear all the VG snobs open their reviews with, "this is a 2 year old PC game port". Screw them. This game kicks ass. 50 players on XBox Live! Campaigns are well designed and hard as hell! Still you'll be coming back for more. Co-op missions are enormous and don't have save points - this will drive you nuts ...but you'll keep coming back for more. Awesome game. To make up for the lack of precise controls found on the PC the developer uses auto-targeting. Ususally I'm skeptical about this feature, but it works well here. Do you like fun? Then get this game. Very difficult game, but just what I needed to hold me over until Conflict: Global Terror comes out. 9 out of 10 for me.

Movies Movies Movies!!!

Had my 15 year old cousin out from Chicago the past 10 days so I had the opportunity to see a few movies. You've probably heard all the hype so here's the lowdown411:

War of the Worlds
Well, my parents saw this film before I did and they said it was just, 'okay'. I had read the book with my son about a year ago so I was still curious. Basically I have to go back and ask you to think about all the suck-ass movies you've seen in the past year. All the times you shelled out $10.00 to see crap. Okay, now imagine a movie that has great special effects, keeps a good tense pace and has a reasonably good script. There you have it - easily worth $10.00.

There were a few problems - How did that dude's video camera work in the first attack? How did that little girl get out of her shoe so fast and without moving it? Why were the aliens spraying blood all over again? Why did the ships lose power because the aliens caught a virus? Whatever - still a kick ass movie. 9 out of 10 for me.

Stealth
So my cousin is playing around with my TiVo because he has never seen one before - and there is an item that says, "Watch the first 4 minutes of 'Stealth'". So he watches it with my son and the two of them get all excited. Needless to say, we ended up going to see it that night. I really thought it was going to suck-ass, but it just sucked. There were some great action sequences that made it worthwhile. Some chick who might be the one from that television program "Seventh Heaven" is in it. There are a bunch of lame flirting scenes with the other main character. Oh, and Jamie Foxx is in this for about 30 minuties bofore he dies. Plot started out pretty lame but picked up in the 2nd half. Assassins, N. Korea, blowing stuff up saved the film. There are a bunch of unnecessary race elements that added nothing to the story - why do they do this? Fun movie nonetheless. 7.5 out of 10 for me.
