Loading Ready Run DVD Review
I got home from work today and had a package waiting for me containing the Loading*Ready*Run Season One Weeks 1 to 52 DVD as well as the After Hours Quest for the Grail DVD by the same couple of guys. I saw a dubbed WOW clip that seemed funny and so I ordered their DVDs.
It's difficult to describe the degree of embarrassment I felt watching these craptastic comedy shorts. There are 3 painful DVDs full of lame-ass comedy sketches. The DVDs and the cases they come in smell like black licorice - WTF? I can only liken their comedy skills to telemarketing. You have to call 500 angry people before that one sap buys your crap. These guys keep doing the same crappy skits (replace ___ with ___) over and over thinking that eventually there will be a little funny born. Having each other take the Cosmo Girl quiz doesn't get funnier the more you do it! And dudes, when your video segment title says, "Girly Magazine Quiz" I expect you to ask if Juggs is a ceramics magazine or not.
The production quality is pretty good for an independent DVD. You can really see those film school dollars at work Mom and Dad! One small problem with the copy I received is that the title was misspelled. It should have read, "Poon-Away" The C64 DVD menus are seriously the most awesome thing about this set of DVDs. Oh wait, I'm sorry that isn't quite the most awesome part. You see, they have some footage of a Cos-Play competition that I can't even begin to faithfully describe. Some people scare the shit out of me though.
You have to give the two Canadians some credit for being so candid with their socially crippling nerdom. You'll find yourself squirming in your seat wishing some skanky whore would drag these guys out in the alley and fuck the shit out of them just so they would just stop this nonsense already! You are not on Jackass dudes! You are not David Letterman so don't do top 10 lists! And for the love of God, cancel that Cosmo Girl subscription!!! Stick with the WOW parodies, that's what you are good at.
The After Hours Quest for the Grail is a 1995 style computer animated short. I actually found it pretty entertaining, but in all fairness I had just washed my eyes out with turpentine moments earlier. Do you remember that PC game Dragon Lore? You could buy it for 5.00 at computer shows back in the early 90s. Well, that is what this movie looks like.
I think I paid 25.00 for all this wonderful stuff. I don't even remember because it took them so long to send it to me from the Great White North - I actually forgot that I ordered it. A+ for effort. F for... someone fuck these virgins already will ya?
Call of Duty 2 - Xbox 360 Achievements
Played a ton of COD2 this weekend. The recently revealed glitch that allows you to actually get your friends into a match was a bit tedious but worked. At least less tedious than racing to invite a friend in the player matched mode. Even with the long list of Live functionality bugs, COD2 is awesome fun when it works. This is why you spend 10 minutes trying to get a match to work. Once a super-patch is released this will no doubt be the best XBbox 360 online experience. I learned quite a bit from putting in my hours. For one, I used to always pick machine guns and shot guns because the were quick and didn't require lengthy aiming time. This strategy might work in Quake 4 but not in COD2. I switched to the M1 Garand class of weapon and spent hours mastering it (or close to it). This is a powerful weapon that doesn't take forever to aim. Not so great in close quarters so I had to slow down with the balls-out action. This gun is a great balance of action/stealth. I personally hate sniper FPS matches. I think they are lame. I'm sure many of you disagree, but I like a little more action - just my personal preference. After a while I tried my luck with the Browning and Springfield scoped rifles. These are good in some cases, but again I don't care to play sniper all throughout the match so I'd switch to them when necessary. One thing that is great is the Matched player XBox Live option. This makes for a fun match while improving your skills. Nearly everyone I ran into online was a decent person. Sure there were a few little kids screaming obscenities but what can you do. I was feeling better about my COD2 skills and decided that I wanted to try the campaign on Veteran difficulty so that I can get some additional achievement points. I started trying to get the Veteran of Crossing the Rhine achievement. The level of difficulty is insane - but I loved it! Reminded me of the Conflict series, very addicitive. I finally completed the mission and went on to complete the Winter War Veteran level as well. I recommend the challenge to anyone who loves COD2 and wants to improve their skills in multiplayer. Lots of fun! Here is a list of the Achievements available in Call Of Duty 2Completed Training - 50 points Complete the Basic Training Level Won the War - 150 points Complete the game on any difficulty with all levels complete Veteran of the Winter War - 60 points Complete Winter War levels on Veteran Veteran of Stalingrad '42 - 60 points Complete Stalingrad '42 levels on Veteran Veteran of Fortress Stalingrad - 60 points Complete Fortress Stalingrad levels on Veteran Veteran of El Alamein - 60 points Complete El Alamein levels on Veteran Veteran of The Tank Squadrons - 60 points Complete The Tank Squadrons levels on Veteran Veteran of Rommel's Last Stand - 60 points Complete Rommel's Last Stand levels on Veteran Veteran of The Battle for Caen - 60 points Complete The Battle for Caen levels on Veteran Veteran of D-Day - 60 points Complete D-Day levels on Veteran Veteran of Hill 400 - 60 points Complete Hill 400 levels on Veteran Veteran of Crossing the Rhine - 60 points Complete Crossing the Rhine levels on Veteran War Hardened - 200 points Complete the game on Hardened or Veteran with all levels complete
