CES 2008: And The Winner Is...

I might not be a professional photographer, website editor or product reviewer but I am one hell of a consumer. In my opinion, the single biggest splash of the show, the one everyone crowded around and talked about and really blew me away was Microsoft Surface. Hands down winner of the show. Best innovation of our time. This is the future. Say goodbye to your mice and keyboards. Surface coupled with voice recognition is the way of the future. I see so many practical applications for this technology. From industries like Healthcare to retail I think we'll see this everywhere very soon. Can't wait.

Just sit back and enjoy...

I honestly don't have a clue what was going on here. Some sort of inflatable suit/jacket thing with a little kid in it. Check out the balloon blown pants! Freaked me out.

Onto more conventional items...

CES 2008: Media Related Devices

I love that I'm alive in 2007 with all these new gadgets allowing us to take entertainment to the next level. Here are some great innovations:

The iRiver Wing

Xbox 360 with IPTV Media Room service

Texas Instruments DLP - DualView!
This broadcasts 2 inputs to the screen decoded by special glasses. Worked waaayyyy better than I expected. They just need to integrate 2 audio signals into the glasses next.

Smallest DLP Screen EVER!!!

Samsungs Attempt at 3D TV
(not so impressive) People watching without glasses will go insane I think.

Finally, some HD-DVD and BluRay shots.
Everyone was wondering if this war ends soon...

Nice Mame type cabinet at the DLP booth.

Custom Rock Band Drums with Cymbals!

Some crazy lady telling me I cant take photos of her crap import accessories

That chick that did the "I'm Bringing Xbox Back" parody song (I think?)

Miscellaneous Stuff...

CES: Zune

Zune continues to make great strides with a kick-ass firmware update and new styles. Still some quirky issues, but nice competition in an iPod world.

There was no shortage of beautiful young ladies on the showroom floor. Particularly in the auto department.

CES 2008: Overview

It's that time of year again. Time to check out all of the cool electronic gadgets thought up over the past year. Some more impressive than others. I took a brief run down to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Monday and found it to be just as crowded as ever. One common concern seemed to be that the economy could not sustain the levels of consumer spending we have seen over the past several years. Regardless, I had a great time.

I'll break my coverage into a few posts to make things easier to follow. But for now, here are some odds and ends:

A Bionic Japanese Toilet

A very small handheld laptop projector (its in the guys hand. Don't all nominate me for photographer of the year at once)

A cool handheld PC

A Mechanical Bull Exercizer for the Ladies... yeah, uh-huh

Video Displays that are hidden in Mirrors - Very Cool!

More posts/pix to come...
